Chapter 2

Management

Bureau of Information and Telecommunications (BIT), then called Central Data Processing (CDP), was established as a division under the Office of the Budget by Chapter 170, Session Laws of 1966. Subsequent changes have placed Information Services (I/S) as an office under the Bureau of Administration (SDCL 1-14-6.1) and currently BIT is a division of the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications (Executive Order 94-4).   Statutory base for the operation of the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications can be found in sections 1-33-37 to 1-33-62 of South Dakota Codified Law and also in those portions of Chapter 1-14 and 1-33 that were transferred to the new Bureau by Executive Order 94-4.  Also see Chapter 13-47 for additional functions of the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications.
